MULCH-- everything has been mulched.. and everyone seems very happy with the extra blanket for the spring. Lilies, irises, poppies, tulips, crocuses, Hyacinths, Chionodoxa lucilae , grape Hyacinth , Garlic and Lupins are all making the presence known. Peas that I planted two weeks ago are starting to germinate ( yes I dug one up :)

SPRING 2014
I, like a bear
Wake to the change in the sun heated air
Stir in my lair
Stoke up the fire, crawl back in bed
It snowed in the night
Lay down my head
closed eyes and to my surprise
A chorus of spring , in my mind starts to sing
Its too nice a day to do that.

I LOVE MOSS
Moss and me go way back- Mom used to put me outside in the morning and I would build fern and most forts,, the smell was incredible
the aromatic humidity of the damp forest floor , floods over you
Like diving underwater, the aromatic humidity of the damp forest floor fills your senses as you enter the birch grove ravine...
As hoped, nature begins to fill in the spaces left from silver-culturing the spruce hordes..:)

and then comes...... the SHADE GARDENS
Well the help of a back hoe- the third/bottom tier was created. It will be the "growing grounds". Soil is wonderful and deep and gets lots of moisture and the scrub on the outside of the property shields it from the wind.. so its hot hot hot..:) Its like a natural greenhouse. IF that's not enough to drive a gardener wild, it also helps to connect the property with a little project of mine .. shade gardens...
