My Cistern by the Sea

Finally my roof has been put to use..   too much need for just my well

soil reclamation project

logs  filled with garden cuttings.  layered with seaweed and covered with mulch from previous years..  with potatoes on top

And of contentment

My garden has taught me that the only constant in the world is change.  But in every moment of change,  we gain a perspective of our nature in choas

and of perspective

it is always there

and of nature

....  chaos in chaos is just chaos.  Order is always only temporty,, dynamics when the two meet are FABULOUS

and of chaos....

LIke many, when I was a pup,  a glorious summer day consisted of placing some natural floatable item in a flow of water,  following infinity in the possibility of it movements .  In nature everything exists in a state of flux,, a seemingly random spontaneous chaos cycling through life, growth, death and decay   and when we are given the chance to allow order to temporarily exist within the chaos....

Poppies,, and Chives

and water features

Had some spare pond liner lying around so built two gurggling ponds to add to the scene

Hundreds of lilies

Summer color

Orange Day lilies and yellow Irises

Summer has Arrived

Although the Spring has been cold and wet,, the garden is happy as a clam
At this point the garden is a blast of bright yellow from an old variety of early blooming day lilies that smell something like Lilacs,  Lupins add the purple  with Yellow/purple tongued beared irises.   A lone allium  and  those pink things--   which sadly , I have to admit I have no idea what they are called...

Perspective # 3

January 19, 2010

5 degrees c today and raining--  Odd for January

State of the Garden.
Snow is often touted as being the Poor man's fertilizer.   The fact that there is no snow cover, however convenient, is a concern for the graden and for the insulation of the tender perennials.

The planting for the 2011 year began in  October 2010.  Four Dozen garlic bulbs where planted.  Planting is recommended before Thanksgiving  ( that is canadian thanksgiving) for the following year harvest.   The weather has been such that the garlic sprouted before xmas and now sits a good 3 to 4 inches out of the ground. Once you have a crop,  you can use the garlic bulbs to plant for subsequent crops..  and there you have it your first "Organic" item.   Of course Organic just means that the only thing on it is bug droppings and everything elese that the general environment is made up of.   Nothing is every totally "clean".   What ever is in the air , whatever seeps into the water table, (exhuast, pollution...etc...)  all gets added to the plants chemistry...unless it is grown in a bubble...

January 18, 2011- A new year

With each turn of the seasons, life is affected in some way by my life as a gardener.  Whether it is the wonder and inspiring renewal in the spring, the glorious rich abundance of summer,   the collecting, and harvesting in the fall,, or the winter months filled with hibernation, preparation and planning for the garden in the year to come .

This blog will document the complete process with pictures, prose, music.
